Every year, the Botanical Garden of the Ruhr-University Bochum takes on up to three new apprentices to train as gardeners in the field of ornamental plant cultivation. In the course of their training, the apprentices get to know all areas of the garden. Both outdoors and in the greenhouses, they are taught the different aspects of the gardening profession. The typical tasks of an apprentice include cultivation, propagation, garden maintenance, garden design and plant protection. To gain an insight into the gardening profession before the apprenticeship, an internship is highly recommended. Applications for the following year will be accepted from October.
